Hi, everyone! My name is Archi, and I recently had the opportunity to visit Udaipur solo for the first time. Traveling from Vadodara, I booked a bus through RedBus, which cost me around Rs. 1735. Since there were no trains available on the weekends, I opted for the bus.
Day 1: Exploring Udaipur with My Sister
Upon reaching Udaipur, my first stop was my sister’s hostel, located 15 km away from the city. After some rest, my sister, her friend, and I set out to explore Udaipur.
Often called the ‘Venice of the East,’ Udaipur is famous for its beautiful lakes and lush green hills of the Aravalli range. The city is known for its stunning architecture and historical significance.
City Palace
Our first destination was the City Palace. This majestic architectural marvel stands on a hill overlooking a lake and is surrounded by fortified walls. The palace is a blend of courtyards, pavilions, terraces, corridors, rooms, and hanging gardens. The main entrance is through the triple-arched gate, Tripolia, with eight marble porticos. Historically, the Maharanas were weighed here in gold, which was then distributed among the people.

Ambrai Ghat
Next, we visited Ambrai Ghat, located opposite the City Palace. The peaceful atmosphere here felt like a healing experience. It was a serene place to relax and take in the beauty of Udaipur.
Dinner at Jagat Niwas Palace
For dinner, we went to Jagat Niwas Palace. This hotel offers a breathtaking lake view with a rooftop and jharokha (balcony) concept. The view was mesmerizing, and the ambiance was perfect.
We ordered:
- Cookie and Cream Shake
- Wake Me Up Mocktail
- Paneer Platter
- Lasagna
The food was delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The total bill was Rs. 2300, which may seem costly, but it was worth the price for the experience and the view.
Conclusion
That wraps up my first day in Udaipur. Despite not feeling my best, I had an amazing time exploring the city with my sister. From the grandeur of the City Palace to the tranquility of Ambrai Ghat and the delightful dinner at Jagat Niwas Palace, every moment was memorable.
Stay tuned for my next blog where I will share more about the other places I visited in Udaipur. Until then, keep smiling and keep exploring!
